Brownsville Update – July 4th

This has been an exciting week here in Brownsville! God continues to work in amazing ways! Last Monday, Pastor Peterson had the opportunity to speak at the funeral of the man who passed away in the car accident on June 21st. Pastor Peterson was able to share verses from the Gospel to the family during the funeral. What an amazing opportunity! The Lord has been giving us several unique opportunities to help people whose vehicles have broken down on the side of the road, along with other unexpected opportunities to help and share the Gospel!

The last few Wednesdays, we have been having services in a pavilion at the local park. We have also used these times to hand out water and John and Romans to the people involved in the little league baseball and to those who just come to play at the park. This last Wednesday, a young boy, whose mom was watching from her car, came to the pavilion to join us! We got to meet his mom afterwards, and she expressed interest in possibly joining us next Wednesday as well. That same day, a family that we had met during our first week in Brownsville was there. They were given the gospel in their home during the first week! It was a great unplanned follow-up, and they said they may come back to the park next week as well! Wednesday at the park has been a great outreach and follow-up opportunity!

This Friday, one of our team members, Darrell Morris, went back home to Indiana to intern at his church, Charity Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Also, this Friday, a group from Harvest Baptist Church in North Vernon, IN came down to help us for a week! They have already been an incredible blessing, helping with door knocking, music, food, and fellowship! We are grateful for them, and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store for this week while they are here.

All throughout this last week, we have been door knocking, meeting several people who are unsure about their eternity, but are tied to their good works and their churches which have caused them to be confused about the simplicity of the gospel. The truth of Romans 10:9-13 is difficult to understand by those who are depending on their good works. Please pray for us as we reach them with the gospel, showing them that their hope of an eternity with Christ is through Jesus alone.

Thank you for your prayers and support!

In Christ,

The Evangelize America Brownsville Team
